An article published in Medical News Today reports that Case Western
Reserve University School of Dental Medicine researchers have discovered
a biomarker that can aid in early detection of oral cancers, which
affect some 50,000 people annually and prove fatal for approximately
13,500 in the U.S. alone (oralcancerfoundation.org).

We know that the savvy patients of Gurnee, IL Cosmetic Dentist
Bradley Rule are concerned about their health, which is why this blog
post concentrates on oral cancer awareness!

Some risk factors for oral cancers include:

  • Gender. The disease currently affects twice as many
    males as females.
  • Age. Typically, those diagnosed with oral cancers are
40 years of age or older.
  • Tobacco use. Smoking, as well as using chewing tobacco
    are risk factors.
  • Human Papilloma Virus.

One thing is for sure: Early detection can make all the
difference! Whether you see yourself in one of the risk categories
above or not, your IL dentist serving Grayslake, Libertyville, Lake
Forest, Waukegan, Lindenhurst, Lake Villa, and Crystal Lake can help
